What is a manufactured home?
Manufactured homes are built under a federal building code enacted in 1976 and administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). They are assembled in a factory and then transported to the site where the home will be lived in.
What does manufactured home insurance cover?
The State Farm Manufactured Home policy helps cover accidental, direct physical loss to your dwelling and named peril coverage for your personal property. What are some of the basic coverages we offer?
Property coverages
Coverage A (Dwelling)
Helps cover damage to your home and attached structures. This can include sheds, garages, greenhouses and even docks.
Coverage B (Personal property)
Helps cover your personal possessions that aren’t permanently attached to your home or your property if they are damaged or stolen.
Coverage C (Loss of use)
Helps cover increased living expenses if your home becomes uninhabitable because of a covered loss.
Liability coverages
Coverage L (Personal liability)
Helps provide protection against your legal liability for bodily injury or property damage to third parties if covered under the policy.
Coverage M (Medical payments to others)
Helps cover injuries on your property. Also known as guest-medical payments, it helps provide limited coverage for accidental injuries and related medical treatment if covered under the policy.
Additional coverages
May provide payment for damage to the property of others caused by the insured or for first-aid expenses to others incurred by the insured.
Coverage in action
Let’s say a tree falls on your manufactured home, making it uninhabitable. Manufactured home insurance would help pay for necessary repairs or replacement of the home. It may also cover increased living expenses like a hotel room while you are waiting on repairs or replacement during the period of restoration.
What does manufactured home insurance not cover?
While the State Farm Manufactured Home policy provides broad coverage, it does not provide coverage for every loss. What are some examples of losses not insured?
Certain natural disasters & other causes
Damage from flood, underground water, earthquakes, mudslides. If your community participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), you can buy flood insurance coverage through agents enrolled in the NFIP-Direct program.
Damage caused by settling, deterioration, contamination, nuclear hazard, animals, birds or insects.
Structural
Damage caused by wear, tear, deterioration, workmanship, mechanical breakdown, continuous or repeated seepage or leakage of water or steam, and wet or dry rot.
