We’ll help cover the costs of a rental car while yours is in the shop if you have rental coverage on your policy. Here’s a quick way to find out:
- Check your State Farm insurance card.
- Look for “Coverages".
- If there’s an “R” in the line of characters, it means you’ve got rental car coverage.
It depends on the circumstances, but we’ve tried to make the process as easy as possible. You can even file and check your claim online, which is a fast way to get its status.

The deductible is the amount you have to pay out of pocket. You can find your deductible on your State Farm insurance card, by logging in to your account, and on our mobile app. You can also ask your State Farm agent.

You may need to complete and submit a Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and/or Medical Payments Coverage (MPC) form(s). Your State Farm claim associate can help.
With virtual estimation you can quickly and easily capture images of your vehicle’s damage with a mobile phone. Use the State Farm mobile app to upload photos and other documents.
If you want your repair shop to fix your vehicle’s damage, that’s fine. But if your shop isn’t a Select Service shop, you could be missing out on some great perks, including:
- Guaranteed completion dates
- Written, limited-lifetime warrantees that are honored nationally
- Direct payment to the shop by State Farm when repairs are completed
- If you have insurance information for the at-fault party, you also have the ability to report a claim to the other driver’s carrier. Information on reporting a claim is available on insurance carrier websites.
- Should you choose to pursue a claim on the at-fault driver policy, you may avoid a deductible and may get assistance with rental costs or loss of use during the repair process.
- If you would prefer to have State Farm assist you, contact State Farm to report your claim.
