If you're at a dealership - or anywhere you need to show proof of insurance - your current insurance card will typically get the job done.
Your current State Farm policy automatically provides certain coverages for a new or replacement car for up to a specifiedfootnote 1, limited number of daysfootnote 2 after you take possession of the car.
When you're ready, you can update your policy
Replace an existing vehicle on my policy
Simply log into your account and replace that old vehicle with the new one. It’s that simple.
- Log in to My Accounts
- Go to My products and find your auto policy
- Select Make a policy change
- Choose Replace vehicle
Add a new vehicle to my policy
To add a vehicle to your account, you may need to contact your agent for help, depending on the state you live in.
